Bunk Beds
Whether they are to be used by children, there to save space or a handy backup for guests staying overnight,
bunk beds are an excellent way of providing additional sleeping space as well as leaving a lot more floor space in the bedroom.
Bunk beds for children can be made of wood or metal and come in a wide variety of styles, colours, shapes and sizes. They are designed to be both functional and attractive and can fit into a whole range of spaces.
The variety of designs available means
bunk beds can fit in with any kind of décor and colour scheme, as well as with all types of furniture. If a bedroom has no furniture in it now, you can buy
bunk beds that you can build a furniture theme around. Clean white lines for a bed can be matched with white or lightly coloured furniture such as a
chest of drawers for clothes,
wardrobe for clothes and shoes, and cupboard for toys and other personal items. White gives a sense of additional space, especially if a room is small and walls are painted in gentle, neutral colours.
Bunk beds for kids do not always have to be one on top and one on the bottom. They can be a style of
cabin or
loft bed, with one top bunk with a ladder and storage spaces or a futon for sitting below. Although this takes away an additional bed space, if the extra space is not needed then it can be a good and fun choice for children.
If furniture in a room is minimal and streamlined, perhaps made out of metal, then a metal bunk bed will provide a good complement to that. Some children, and indeed many adults, prefer the more modernistic look for their furniture so the choice can be theirs.
For bedrooms that have more country style, cottage type furniture can easily be furnished with a similar style of bunk bed in an appropriate wood such as beech or pine and with attractive olde-worlde style spindles at head and foot. Designed to be sturdy and set off the features of other furniture, this is a good choice for that homely countryside feel.
As
bunk beds really do open up floor space, instead of having twin beds when two sleeping places are not required, you may want to consider additional storage, especially if they are in a child’s room. There is room under most types of bunk bed for some additional storage to be built in, perhaps in drawers, and when buying the bed it is worth talking to the supplier about options for this.
Bunk beds are practical, functional and effective pieces of furniture, excellent for both children and adults, and with the range of styles and colours available can be adapted to fit any room or to be the focal point for the room’s décor.
